Technology Expo and the Corona Virus
To those participating in the April 19, 2020 GMARC Technology Expo:
Now that the coronavirus has been deemed a pandemic, health experts and government officials are stressing that it is crucial for people who are sick to stay home from work and for everyone to practice “social distancing” to minimize the risks of infection for the near future.
Accordingly, GMARC has a social responsibility, not only to our valued members, but to the ham community at large, to minimize the spread of this virus. This may include the possible cancellation or postponement of our upcoming Technology Expo (swap) currently scheduled for April 19, 2020.
With all this in mind, our board of directors has been monitoring this situation closely; especially, considering the many cancellations of large events that have already been announced or have taken place; including the recent cancellation of the TMRA Ham Swap in Toledo.
After much analysis, our Board of Directors has recently decided not to cancel our Technology Expo now scheduled for April 19, 2020. Our board has decided to wait until the end of this month to make either the postponement or cancellation decision. This may include moving the event to a different venue on a date beyond April.
For the time being, we ask for your patience and indulgence as we continue to monitor this crisis. We will to keep you informed regarding any changes via our web site: www.gmarc.org and through our Facebook Page: GM Amateur Radio. If you have additional comments or concerns, you may contact us at: info@gmarc.org.
In closing, we thank our vendors and participants for being a part of the GMARC Technology Expo and supporting us. Let’s us pray that the current conditions change so we can hold the event we all love.
To your good health,
GMARC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
